What is ceramic fiber paper used for?

Paper is used for gasketing, expansion joints, parting planes, wrapping pipe and small components, and as a hot-face liner in appliances and molten-metal handling. Because it is thin and flexible it fits where blanket and board will not.

What thicknesses and roll sizes are available?

Thicknesses of 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8 and 10 mm in widths of 610 mm or 1220 mm. Roll length runs 10-40 m depending on thickness: 1 mm comes in 40 m rolls, 2 mm in 20 m, 3 mm in 15 m, and 5 mm and 10 mm in 10 m rolls.

Does the paper contain an organic binder?

Yes, a small amount. Organic content is 8% or less and burns out on first firing, so expect some fume during the initial heat-up and provide adequate ventilation.

How much does the paper shrink at temperature?

Linear shrinkage is 3% or less after 24 hours at 1000°C. Tensile strength is at least 0.3 MPa, which is enough to handle gasket cutting and installation.

What is the working temperature?

Ceramic fiber paper is classified at 1260°C and rated for continuous service up to 1100°C. For higher temperatures, consider a zirconia blanket or module instead.
